Install the PhoneBridge Android app, pair a phone from your account and connect claude.ai, Claude Desktop or Claude Code over MCP. Guides, the tools reference, the security policy and troubleshooting.
Quick start#
- Install the app. Download phonebridge.apk and install it. Grant the permissions it lists and accept the battery exemption, which is what keeps the connection alive while the phone sleeps. Details and the Play Protect prompt.
- Sign in and subscribe. Go to phonebridge.co/account, enter your email, and press the link in the message you receive. No password; the link is the sign-in. Press Subscribe for the NZ$12 a month plan, cancel any time.
- Add the phone. Press Add phone, then open the app, choose Pair and scan the code on screen. The phone generates a hardware-backed key and shows up with a green dot within seconds.
- Give Claude the URL. In claude.ai or Claude Desktop add a custom connector with
https://phonebridge.co/mcp. In Claude Code, run the command below. Either way a PhoneBridge page opens where you pick the phone and press Allow. - Ask. “What's my phone's battery?” Then “text Alice that I'm running ten minutes late.”
claude mcp add --transport http phone https://phonebridge.co/mcp
The relay never sees your messages at rest. Every tool, every policy decision and every SMS body lives on the phone. The relay authenticates both sides and forwards bytes in flight over TLS; it stores no content.
What Claude can do#
Fifteen tools, all served by the phone. Read and search texts, send them, watch for incoming messages and calls, see who is ringing, answer, reject, hang up, dial, look up and create contacts, and report battery and signal. The full reference, with every input and output shape, is on the tools page.
What Claude cannot do: hear or speak on a call. Android exposes no call audio to apps, so Claude manages calls but never joins them.
Who decides#
The phone. Before any adapter runs, the on-device policy engine answers allow, deny or confirm. Sends and dials to numbers in your contacts go through; anyone else needs a tap on the phone within sixty seconds. Premium-rate and foreign numbers are refused unless you allow them, there is a per-hour rate limit, and every decision is written to an audit log you can read in the app. A stolen key or a hostile relay can ask; it cannot make the phone say yes. Policy and security.
